The second recipient of a ballistic vest, funded thru the sale of the original Chase patch, is K9 Chon of National City Police Department in California. One of the main things we found when we started calling police departments inquiring about wanting to vest a K9 is that many of them simply don’t have the resources to pay for the vests or they do not believe in doing so. The latter is unfortunate as it means that there are K9s out there that could potentially loose their lives unnecessarily in the line of duty, which could easily have been prevented. When we called National City PD we were told that of their three current K9s, two of them had vests though their newest member did not. We knew immediately that we wanted to be able to help. There are many ways to give back and to help police K9s, but knowing that potentially one major way is covered is a feeling like none other. Again, none of this would be possible without the amazing people who follow us and their purchases that fuel our fundraising.
